Tiyung Dayak – “The Sour Dayak Apple” in Bidayuh Politics

For the Greater Glory of Bidayuh Politics

“In the name of …”

We are becoming “care less” nowadays, even though some of us are highly educated! And why is that?, in case that some of you might ask!

Well, are we really concern in taking care of our living environment? Look around; we’ll see heaps (if not, then it should be in tonnage) of rubbish – discarded indiscriminately!

And if you read this, this, this and this, then you’ll know the reason… Yup; it’s more on people’s attitude. The people – like you and I – tend to forget; even though there is lots of propaganda that has been made to help in eradicating this deadly disease! The disease could be curable (if detected and treated early), but then, to date, there’s no vaccine yet!

So, it’s time NOW to “drain the clogged drains”; keep (y)our homes neat and tidy, etc., etc.

Yeah; that’s what needed to be done, lah!

Well, you can assume that the above caricature is propaganda – to instil awareness in fighting the deadly dengue fever (which is for our own good, actually)! And that’s what I did; I normally punch the bottom of empty can(s) using a knife (in “X” format) before I discard it into the rubbish bin…

  1. Hi! Mr.Tiyung. It’s not the attitude alone but a die hard habit inherited from one generation to the other, which is apt to describe the behaviour of most Sarawakians. It’s this trait, which require not just moral education, but emphasis should be enhanced more toward public awareness and self discipline.

My youngest son was in New Zealand a few months back, and he was so taken by the attitudes and pride, the Kiwis displayed in their day to day life in keeping their streets and environment spit and span. They do not require too much laws to enforce, for it would be stupid and embarrassing if you are caught littering, even by your next neighbour. In fact it open a new vista for him,and I really could see how much he has changed since then.

    • I couldn’t disagree on that!

By the way, the above article serves as “double-trouble meanings” – I can say that!

We – the cook(s) – should exercise hygienic conditions by removing the (very) source of that deadly fever… (Read: we – as voters – (and in the name of “equality”,) should exercise our rights in rooting out inefficient ADUNS that compromise blatant corruptions…)

Yeah; the time is coming soon (in May 2011?!) – to enable us in carrying out major cleaning campaign!
